A 62-year old father shot and wounded his son after he was stabbed in his right hand by the latter during their knife fight Sunday evening in Makati City.

Jeffrey Antonio, 28, vendor, and his father Juancho, both residents of Blk 93, Lot 24, San Francisco St.Brgy. Rizal were rushed by responding members of the Bgy. Rizal Bantay-Bayan to Ospital ng Makati for treatment of their wounds.

Their attending physician, Dr. James Bravo told police investigators P/SSgt. Robert John Baligod that Jeffrey, who sustained a gunshot wound in his arm, is in stable condition, along with his father who was treated with a stab wound in the right hand.

A report reaching the office of Southern Police District (SPD) Director P/BGen. Jimili Macaraeg showed that while father and son were under the influence of liquor, they engaged in a heated altercation inside their abode at around 8:45 p.m. triggered by Juancho’s disappointment on how his son raised his grandson.

Jeffrey’s wife, Jonina Lorraine, admitted to the police that his father-in-law was utterly dismayed upon learning that his son allowed his grandson to beg for alms resulting in their heated altercation that later turned into a knife fight.

Juancho’s live-in partner Lilia Balanon told police that when her partner was stabbed in a knife fight in his hand, he went inside their bedroom and returned already armed with a caliber .38 revolver and shot his son twice, hitting him in the arm.

Though wounded, Jeffrey ran outside to escape, calling the attention of roving Bantay-Bayan that resulted in the arrest of Juancho and the recovery of caliber .38 revolver loaded with two empty shells and four live bullets in its chamber from him. Ni Edd Reyes
