Job

A game-changer

WITHOUT doubt, the Filipino people support the clamor of members of the country’s working class for more quality lobs in this Southeast Asian nation.

In the view of many, depriving the citizens, notably the poorest of the poor across the country, of the means to cope with rising prices is unfortunate.

However, we commend the government of President Marcos for its all-out efforts to create more quality local jobs for the mushrooming population.

In fact, President Marcos has signed a new legislation which is seen to bolster government efforts to address joblessness and underemployment.

Admittedly, more and more Filipinos, including professionals and even agricultural workers, want to look for “greener pastures” overseas.

Of course, we cannot blame our countrymen for wanting to seek employment abroad because of the lack of job opportunities in the country.

Principal sponsor and author of the new legislation – Republic Act (RA) No. 11981 or Tatak Pinoy Act – is Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva.

Villanueva thanked President Marcos and Sen. Sonny Angara for relentlessly pushing for the prompt passage of the new measure.

Specifically, Tatak Pinoy Act supports the country’s local industries and creates employment opportunities for the Filipino people.

It will complement the Trabaho Para Sa Bayan Act, which was signed by President Marcos on September 27, 2023. RA No. 11981 was inked last Monday.

Certainly, as Senator Villanueva said, Tatak Pinoy Act is a game-changer in opening up immense opportunities for the country’s local industries.
