OVER 99,000 people have benefited from the city government’s Trabaho Dabawenyo program which provides short-term employment to those whose jobs were affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

Commissioner Norman Baloro of the Philippine Commission on the Urban Poor, who led the project’s implementation in Davao, said the initiative has so far benefited a total of 99,409 Dabawenyos.

Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD) vice presidential aspirant and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, on her online show “Sara All for You” on Friday, said the program was one of the city’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Wala tayong pipiliin – babae man o lalaki, LGBT, bata o matanda, etc. Kapag Dabawenyo na kailangang mag-avail ng tulong ay talagang bibigyan ng tulong,” Duterte said.

“Yan po ang ating tugon – leaving no one behind. Wala po tayong dapat maiwan,” Baloro said.

Baloro said although not everyone can be accommodated into the program, the city government is doing its best to give temporary employment for those who need it.

Trabaho Dabawenyo is Davao City’s version of the TUPAD or Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers funded by the Department of Labor and Employment.

A worker-beneficiary will get P396/day or P3,960 for a 10-day community service under the program.
