THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) lauded two transport groups that voluntarily asked the agency for an inspection of the passenger jeepneys of their members to show they are road-worthy.

LTO chief Asst. Secretary Vigor Mendoza II personally led a team at the terminals of the Basicano Transport Service and Multi-Purpose Cooperative and the DMNR Inc. (Divisoria-Monumento-Novaliches-Recto) in Caloocan-Novaliches to see to it if the units are indeed road worthy.

Mendoza lauded the group’s leaders for the voluntary request.

“The two groups initiated the request for inspection and this only shows good and responsible leadership, as well as genuine concerns for their passengers, on the part of their leaders and members,” the LTO chief said.

As soon as the request for inspection was received, Assec Mendoza immediately set up a schedule with the transport groups in their respective terminals.

LTO personnel brought with them mobile emission testing machines and other equipment to check each unit’s worthiness.

The inspection of public utility vehicles, according to the LTO chief, is in line with the directive of Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista to ensure the roadworthiness of all PVUs under the road safety campaign in the country.

“Tayo ay nagpapasalamat sa tiwala na kanilang ipinapakita sa LTO at malasakit at pagmamahal sa kanilang trabaho at kanilang mga pasahero,” he added.

On the part of the two transport groups, they were thankful that Mendoza heeded their voluntary request.

The activity was also taken as an opportunity to facilitate the renewal of the motor vehicle registration, as well as other LTO-related transactions of the members.
