THE controversial movie, “Maid in Malacañang” continues to rake in money at the box-office. On its third week, “Maid in Malacañang” has grossed P254 million and still counting. If it were a record “Maid in Malacañang” would have reached the platinum mark going diamond. The movie has been lambasted by some for allegedly twisting the truth but the majority enjoyed the film of box-office director Darryl Yap. Whatever, how can one argue with success?

New hit list

0916 by Because

Hit rap music artist and trendsetter BECAUSE returns with a banging new number titled 0916.” This chill and vibing mid-tempo track is about, according to BECAUSE, “reaching out to an old fling.” The influential rap artist also shared that “celphone language is a relatable thing,” especially this one wherein he mixes millennial and Gen Z quotables unto the verses. A moody rap number about booty calls? a lot can certainly relate to that.

Kabado By Adie

Those who have latched on the sound and feel of Adie’s song can breathe a sigh of relief as his new singler “Kabado” sounds faithful to “Paraluman.” Which is to say that the singer-songwriter’s new song is both wistful and lilting and heavy on the feels. According to the songwriter, “Kabado” is inspired by his own Prom experience from high school. “I had a crush on someone I badly wanted to dance with, and the song “Kabado” encapsulates what he was feeling back then as he was trying to figure out how to make a move.

Tahan Na By CARLO

New and rising singer-songwriter Carlo (aka Carlo Mendoza) offers an uplifting ballad titled “Tahan Na.” This number is about being comforted in the times when one needs it the most. And Carlo actually wrote this song as a sonic balm when he himself was going thru a breakup phase. “I decided I want a song that could actually be my ‘friend’ after a heartbreak moment. And “Tahan Na” turned out to be a song of comfort for me in the midst of my healing season.”

Nosi Balasi By Marion Aunor

Marion Aunor revives a rock classic from the 80’s in her tackling of “Nosi Ba Lasi.” But this take is way more different than how it was originally recorded by Pinoy rock icon Sampaguita. For one, Marion’s take is more moody and atmospheric rather than the taut rock approach of the original. Still, for straight on listening, this one works and proves how Marion can make any piece of music—even those that she didn’t write—sound like she owns it.

UNSURE By francis

Francis makes his label debut with the lo-fi vibed track “UNSURE.” It’s equal parts R&B style singing, rap and a healthy dose of chill atmospherics in this modern day ode to love.

Pag-ibig Kolehiyo By Abbygael Hilario

“Pag-ibig Kolehiyo” by Blacksheep Records Manila artist Abbygael Hilario releases her second single and is quite obvious on what its theme is. But its in the way that Abbygael delivers this pop rock number about finding the right one. In her own words, Abbygael said: “Pag-ibig Kolehiyo” is a song which mirrors how a college student experiences love…someone may come suddenly, and tear your heart cruelly or someone may make you feel hope yet break it still.”

Dalaga By Morning After

Morning After makes their third single under Blacksheep Records with the upbeat and head bobbing “Dalaga.” This bright sounding pop number conjures 90’s rock themed sonics and eternal themes of love and the crazy but feel-good emotions that comes with it. By REMY UMEREZ
