Ecija mayor surrenders 6 high-powered guns to police

GENERAL TINIO, Nueva Ecija — The municipal mayor of this town on Friday voluntarily surrendered his six high-powered firearms to the police.

Police head Maj. Lawrence D. Lira said Mayor Isidro T. Pajarillaga, 70, of Irenea Subd., Bgy. Nazareth, who possesses a revoked License To Own and Possess Firearm (LTOPF), personally appeared before him and surrendered a Benelli Armi 12-gauge shotgun, three Glock 22 generation-4 cal. 40 pistols, a Pietro Beretta cal. 9mm pistol, and a Colt MK IV cal. 45 pistol.

Lira said the firearms, which are registered under the mayor’s name, are under custodia legis or in custody of the court in relation to a case pending before the Gapan City Regional Trial Court Branch 36 entitled People of the Philippines vs. Jonard De Leon y Lagman, et.al. docketed under Criminal Case 26376-22 for violation of Section 261 (Q) of B.P. 881 in relation to Republic Act 10591 and a Comelec resolution.

The surrendered guns are now properly documented and kept for safekeeping.
