Deep well ‘swallows’ 2-year-old boy in Bataan
A 2-YEAR-OLD boy died after he fell into a 20- feet deep well in Mariveles, Bataan.
The owner of the well in Bgy. Alas-Asin, Mariveles told the police that on Sunday, she asked the tot’s father, a construction worker, to do some repair in her house.
The father was on his way to work when he failed to notice that his 2-year-old son followed him.
Unfortunately, the boy fell after stepping on the brittle plywood covering the well that contains some 4-feet deep water.
The father tried to save his baby and went down the well. However, his attempt to rescue his son failed as he passed due to lack of air and foul smell coming from the well.
Barangay rescuers and some residents helped pulled the father and his son from the well.
The child was rushed to the nearest hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
