Blue Hawks, Patriots to dispute NCRAA title

DEFENDING champion Immaculada Concepcion College is back in the finals.

De La Salle University-Dasmariñas, on the other hand, made history by barging into the championship round.

The Blue Hawks defeated Olivarez College, 95-82, while the Patriots upset No.2 seed Asian Institute of Studies Maritime, 90-82 in a pair of exciting semifinal matches in the 30th NCRAA (National Capital Region Athletic Association) at the Olivarez gym in Parañaque City.

The high-scoring duo of Alfred Flores and Tutoy Ramirez combined for 79 points to power the Caloocan-based Blue Hawks to victory to the delight of a big crowd that included ICC president Marco Agana and other top school officials.

Flores erupted for 27 on his game-high 44 points in the first half on top of six rebounds in almost 38 minutes of action.

Ramirez added 35 points, nine assists, five rebounds and three steals.

Hanz Maycong and MJ Gallano led the Sea Lions’ losing effort.

Maycong finished with 20 points while Gallano contributed with 18 points, 14 rebounds and six assists for the Mike Saguiguit-mentored Sea Lions.

Lian Barbero and Rodel Renon added 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Dan Arches chipped in with 10 points in a losing effort.

Rogelio Calagos and JL Rasonable scored 45 points for coach Tito Reyes-mentored Patriots.

Calagos scored 24 points, including nine in the payoff period, and added five assists, three steals.

Two of his three steals came in the final minutes of the game.

Rasonable added 21 points and 14 rebounds, followed by Ronroy Bunda with 12 points and Gio Santiago with 11 points.

Jerico Peralta and Danny Datwin carried the fight for the Blue Sharks of coach Kiko Flores.

Peralta had 24 points and six rebounds while Datwin tallied 20 points and nine rebounds.

With the win, the Blue Hawks and Patriots will meet in the best-of-three finals.
