GENERAL TRIAS CITY, Cavite – The six-day registration of candidates for the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) has officially ended yesterday.

Only a few aspirants went to the local Comelec offices in the province on the last day of registration, contrary to the expected crowd, because most of the candidates submitted their certificate of candidacy (COC) on the first day of registration on August 28 and on September 1, 2023.

According to the guard on duty of the city hall of General Trias Becs Beronibla, candidates flocked to the city on Friday to file their COCs, filling the city hall grounds with barangay and SK bets, and their supporters.

The candidates filed their respective COCs for the 803 villages in the province of Cavite, which is composed of eight cities and 15 towns.

“These will be reviewed by the En Banc Committee if they are appropriate or qualified to run on the position desired by each individual candidate,” said attorney Mitzele Morales-Castro, Cavite provincial election supervisor.

The BSKE polls will take place on October 30, 2023 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the designated polling places in each town and city.

The Commission on Elections has only allotted bets a one-week campaign to their respective barangays from October 19 to 28.

Liquor ban will be implemented on October 29 and 30 while the gun ban and checkpoints continue to be imposed in strategic areas in the province under the leadership of Morales-Castro and Cavite Police Provincial Director Col. Christopher Olazo.
