‘Safe house’ yields P2.7M shabu

IMUS CITY, Cavite – Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO) Provincial Director under Police Colonel Christopher F. Olazo announced the arrest of another two suspects in a robbery incident that transpired at a salon and spa located in a building at Barangay Magdal-Potol, Kawit, Cavite, on January 8, 2023, wherein more or less P100,000 was stolen by the suspects.

One of the robbers with the alias “Mark,” of Scout Bodega, Quezon City was arrested while his cohort managed to escape using a getaway vehicle described as a blue Audi Hatchback.

Upon receipt of the information regarding the incident, P/Lt. Col. Freddie Dantes, Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of Kawit Municipal Police Station (MPS), coordinated the neighboring provinces, city, and municipal stations for dragnet operation and organized a tracker team for the possible arrest of the fleeing suspect after “Mark” revealed their identity and possible whereabouts.

A suspect identified with the alias “Ramon,” of Quezon City, served as the driver of the getaway vehicle in the robbery incident and was arrested at 4:15 p.m. in Bgy. Bunga, Tanza, Cavite, after a flashed alarm was sent to different police stations.

The arresting officer recovered from the suspect one cal. 9mm Armscor pistol with serial number and one magazine inserted containing four live ammunition.

In a separate operation conducted by the Kawit Police Office at 8:20 p.m. of the same date, another getaway vehicle was accosted at Bgy. Navarro, General Trias City, while another cohort of “Mark” ran inside their alleged “safe house” and managed to escape, left the door unlocked, which resulted in the arrest of two live-in partners, both residents of the said barangay.

The operatives, while conducting a search, seized 42 plastic sachets of shabu weighing more or less 393.95 grams with a street value of P2,718.255.00, several PNP (Philippine National Police) uniforms, reflectorized vests, seven cellphones, four live ammunition, one stainless magazine of caliber .45, drug paraphernalia and different identification cards and documents from their previous victims.

The arrested suspects are now under the custody of Kawit MPS for proper disposition, while the illegal drug evidence and the confiscated firearm will be brought to Provincial Forensic Unit for proper examination.

Meanwhile, P/Brigadier Gen. Jose Melencio C Nartatez Jr., regional director of PRO Calabarzon (Cavite/Laguna/Batangas/Rizal/Quezon), commended the operatives of Cavite Police under the leadership of Olazo together with Dantes for the quick response which resulted in the arrest of not just “simple robbers” but an individual who also a suspected source and supplier of illegal drugs in Cavite province, National Capital Region (NCR) and Southern Tagalog region.
