POLICE Regional Office (PRO) 7 Director Brigadier General Anthony A. Aberin on Thursday announced the arrest of a top drug trafficking suspect in Central Visayas following a buy-bust operation in Lapu-Lapu City which led to the seizure of over P7 million worth of shabu.

Members of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office under Col. Elmer S. Lim arrested the “high-value target,” a native of Dalaguete, Cebu, during a sting in Bgy Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City, 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Seized were 15 plastic sachets of shabu weighing 1,050 grams valued at P7.140 million, marked money, and the cellphone he used in contacting the poseur buyer.

The suspect was previously arrested for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 in 2014; however, he availed of the plea bargaining agreement and was released from jail in 2019.

Since his release, there has been persistent information that the suspect returned to his old habits of peddling illicit drugs prompting the local police to place him under surveillance.

Aberin commended the Lapu-Lapu City policemen led by Col. Lim and Majors Joey M. Bicoy and Aibert Jay C. Samson for leading the anti-narcotics operation which led to the arrest of a top drug target in the Central Visayas.

Lim said they also got support from the Naval Intelligence and Security Group in launching the sting.

The suspect was reported to be capable of disposing of up to one kilo of shabu a month prior to his arrest.

The suspect is now facing a non-bailable case for the sale and possession of prohibited drugs under RA 9165.
