Tiangco gets 1st shot of Moderna vax
NAVOTAS City lone district Congressman John Rey Tiangco received his first shot of Moderna vaccine, a US-made vaccine, against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Cong. Tiangco, being a part of the A4 priority group, was inoculated at the Tangos National High School on Saturday afternoon.
The lawmaker said that according to the Regional Vaccination Operations Center, Navotas has 88.2% vaccine utilization rate.
However, Mayor Toby Tiangco said that out of 31,000 senior citizens residing in the city, only 13,808 have been vaccinated which is less than half of the total number of elders in Navotas.
“Kung di po natin ito mapapataas kahit 70%, maaaring hindi na tayo prayoridad na mabigyan ng bakuna at posibleng bumagal ang ating libreng bakunahan. Kaya hikayatin po natin ang ating mga lolo at lola na magpabakuna na. Kung bedridden o di makaalis ng bahay, mag TXTJRT para maikutan ng vaccination bus,” Mayor Tiangco posted on his social media account.
As of July 2, the city has administered 117,006 doses of COVID-19 vaccines. Of this, 87,742 are first doses and 29,264 are second doses.
