THIRTY-TWO drug offenders in Western Visayas were arrested on Wednesday in a buy-bust operation in Iloilo City.

Police Regional Office 6 director Brig. Gen. Leo M. Francisco said the arrested suspects were led by two siblings-turned “high-value targets” identified as Alony Leonor alias “Bata,” 47, and his brother Elmer alias “Nonoy,” 37.

Undercover officers of the PRO6 Regional Drug Enforcement Unit and the Iloilo City Police Station 5 arrested the two after they conspired to sell drugs to a poseur in Zone 2, Bgy. Bakhaw in Mandurriao, Iloilo City around 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Recovered from the two were some P20,000 worth of the “poor man’s cocaine” and the buy-bust money.

Francisco said that an accomplice of the two brothers identified as Jeric Jimena and their 29 customers were arrested shortly after.

Confiscated from the suspects, nine of them caught in the act of having a “drug session,” were 19 pieces of heat-sealed plastic sachets containing some 135 grams of shabu worth P918,000.

Also recovered during the operation were various drug-sniffing paraphernalia, including an improvised glass tooter with shabu residue.

All suspects are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Francisco commended the PRO6 officers and men involved in the successful Iloilo City sting as he vowed to continue their unrelenting war on drugs in Western Visayas.
