PRO5 bags 2 top drug suspects, P1.360M shabu seized
POLICE Regional Office 5 (PRO5) Director Brigadier General Rudolph B. Dimas on Monday announced the arrest of two siblings-turned top drug trafficking personalities in the Bicol region during a buy-bust operation in Libmanan, Camarines Sur.
In a report to Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr., the official said the two suspects from Libmanan municipality yielded some 200 grams of shabu worth P1.360 million during the sting in their neighborhood past 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
Dimas said that undercover officers from the PRO5 Regional Drug Enforcement Unit and its Camarines Sur Team led by Lt. Dennis Altez launched the anti-narcotics operation targeting the two siblings who have been reported to be involved in big-time shabu trafficking activities in the province.
With the support of the Libmanan Municipal Police Station under Lt. Col. Alex Peñafiel, the PRO5 Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB), and the Camarines Sur Police Provincial Office (PPO), the anti-narcotics operatives conducted the buy-bust operation, he said.
Dimas said that the two were arrested shortly after they conspired to sell 100 grams of the so-called “poor man’s cocaine” valued at P680,000 to a poseur.
Apart from the drugs, the two also yielded P150,000 worth of buy-bust money, topped by a marked P500 bill.
When frisked, the two suspects likewise yielded four more plastic packets containing another 100 grams of shabu, bringing the total volume of drugs recovered from them to 200 grams or with a Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) value of P1,360,000.
Dimas said that the two will be facing non-bailable charges for selling and possessing prohibited drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
They are being held in a local police lock-up facility while follow-up operations are still underway to identify and arrest the main source of the drugs recovered from them, the PRO5 director said.
