A POLICEMAN was killed in a gun scuffle with a fellow policeman during a drinking session in Quezon City on Sunday afternoon, September 25, 2022.

A report from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) showed that the incident happened around 2:40 p.m. at the house of a PNP Master Sergeant who was celebrating his birthday on that day in Barangay Greater Lagro and the victim, a police staff sergeant, was among the guests.

Both were reportedly both assigned at the Talipapa Police Station 3.

Probers said the suspect had just “returned” the victim’s service firearm, a .45 caliber handgun when the suspect broke a bottle of beer.

A heated argument ensued between the two police officers after the victim broke another bottle.

The staff sergeant pulled out his handgun after the suspect doused him with water and a scuffle ensued.

The firearm went off multiple times, hitting the suspect on different parts of his body.

The other guests at the party held the victim and took his firearm.

The suspect’s wife and another guest brought him to the hospital.

It was then discovered that the victim also suffered gunshot wounds when police investigators arrived at the scene and were reportedly slumped on the pavement near the gate.

They brought him to the same hospital, but he was declared dead upon arrival.

Police investigators invited the suspect’s wife and four other people who witnessed the incident for questioning.

In a statement to the police, the wife said that she did not notice any gunshot wounds from the victim and was alive before she rushed his husband to the hospital.

She said she found out the victim also suffered gunshot wounds when she returned home from the hospital after an hour.
