KALEI Mau’s much-awaited Premier Volleyball League debut will have to wait.

The hard-spiking F2 Logistics outside hitter has signed a contract with Puerto Rico’s Liga de Voleibol Superior Femenino club Las Changas de Najanrito for two-and-a-half months.

“To all my Filipino supporters, Salamat sa lahat for your constant love and support. I want you to hear it from me first that I will be playing abroad for a 2.5 month season. I plan to return to PH after this quick stint to compete in the PVL with my team @F2CargoMovers,” Mau posted on her Twitter account yesterday.

The Cargo Movers are one of the five new teams in the now professional PVL, which is waiting to open its 2021 season in a tightly-secured bubble.

With the Fil-Am Mau around, F2 Logistics is tipped to contend for the Open Conference crown currently held by Creamline.

One of the 40 invited players, the 26-year old Mau will miss the PNVF-organized national women’s volleyball team tryouts today in Subic.

“With that being said, I will not be able to attend the National Team tryouts this week due to travel restrictions and safety risks. But my dream to play for the Philippine flag has and will not change,” said the 6-foot Mau.

For the meantime, Mau will bring her wares to Puerto Rico.

Najanrito is among the eight franchises in the LVSF for the 2021 season which also includes Corozal, Juncos, San Juaneras de la Capital, Ponce, Caguas, Humacao and Gurabo.

Criollas de Caguas is the defending champion, having won over Najanrito in the 2019 championship chase. The 2020 edition of the top-tier Puerto Rico club league was scrapped due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
