THE quartet of Clo Mondoñedo, Michelle Gamit, Gayle Pascual and Jade Gentapa hope to end their decorated NCAA careers as champions.

Having been in the league’s biggest stage in the last three years, College of Saint Benilde will let its game do the work as it tries to complete a women’s volleyball three-peat.

“Yung pressure hindi namin siya iniisip. Basta gawin lang ang part namin and follow na lahat iyon,” said Gamit after her team beat Letran in straight sets Sunday to gain a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series.

The Lady Blazers’ team effort keyed their Game 1 victory, as the three-time NCAA champions brushed off a tough Lady Knights stand in the first set.

“Lahat kami ginawa ang best namin, hindi ako, or si Clo or si Gayle. Lahat kami gumawa ng part namin para maganda ang game namin,” Gamit, who shared the scoring mantle with Pascual with 14 points in the opener.

Mondoñedo, Benilde’s crafty playmaker, warns her teammates not to let their guard down in Game 2 on Sunday.

“Siguro yung complacency. Hindi kami puwedeng maging complacent, lalo na yung Letran, lumalaban sila. Siguro nasa amin ang side, medyo malayo yung score,” Mondoñedo said.

“Next game for sure, babawi sila at kami ready lang kami kung ano ang dapat naming gawin, dapat trabahuin namin,” she added.

Mondoñedo tossed in 15 excellent sets and scored four points.

The Lady Blazers are eyeing for a third consecutive perfect 11-0 season.
