Calamba mayor graces UPHSD grad rites

PASAY CITY – Mayor Roseller “Ross” Rizal and Congresswoman Charisse Alcantara of Calamba City were guests of honor at the graduation rites of the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta (UPHSD) Calamba campus Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at the Plenary Hall of the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC).

The two Calamba City leaders spoke before hundreds of graduates of the Senior High School (SHS) and Baccalaureate Program at their 22nd commencement ceremony with this year’s theme: “Transcending the Legacy of Excellence”.

Mayor Rizal thanked UPHSD for lending their school facilities for the vaccination program for Calamba residents.

“We are proud to have you today to manage to finish your journey despite the pandemic; they are resolute to maintain their course and focus their energy to reach the long-awaited moment,” Rizal said in his speech at the commencement rites.

“Your determination, [especially] on your most difficult time with courage, discipline, and success, carried their respective diplomas,” Rizal added.

“As your local chief executive, may I offer some information that might help you choose a better future of our youth and better life of Calambeños – My government will expound the scholarship program of our students to help your parents get through on your studies para sa isang matapat na paglilingkod na aming alay at magkaroon ng ramdam na reporma at pagbabago sa ating mahal na lungsod, hindi lang para sa iilan kundi para sa lahat,” said the Calamba City mayor.

Annielyn Eugenio, Dr/Brig. Gen Antonio Tamayo, Gold Medallion for Leadership Awardee, delivered the welcome address; Ruth Stephanie Quinto, Silver Medallion for Leadership Awardee, read the “Address of Petition”, and Stephanie Krisha Parayno, Cum Laude, Dr/Brig. Gen Antonio Tamayo Gold Medallion for Leadership Awardee delivered her “Address of Thanks”.

University President Anthony Tamayo, assisted by Dr. Ernesto Ramirez, presented the academic awards and loyalty, while Mayor Rizal greeted all the graduates on stage while distributing diplomas and certificates.

In the morning program, Cong. Hernandez-Alcantara attended the graduation of SHS students of the said university as she was the guest of honor and speaker of the 5th SHS graduation.
