THREE parcels containing illegal drugs worth P2.476 million were intercepted by the Bureau of Customs-Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA) and partner agencies at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC), Pair Cargo, and DHL Warehouse in Pasay City.

Authorized personnel turned over the illegal drugs to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for proper disposition.

A physical examination of the parcels verified the presence of six plastic pouches of candies and one vape cartridge containing THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), 1.020 kg of Ecstasy, and 106.46 gm of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) worth P2.476 million, said authority.

The parcels originated from the United States, France, and Pakistan. They were shipped to consignees in Negros Occidental, Makati City, and Camarines Sur.

BOC-NAIA said they are investigating to find those behind the parcels for violations of Republic Act (RA) No. 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and RA 10863, or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.

The Port, following the directives of Customs Commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz and marching orders of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., said they will “remain vigilant” and strengthen its collaboration with partner agencies to prevent smuggling.

The BOC-NAIA, headed by District Collector Carmelita Talusan, stated that they will “continuously guard the country’s border against the entry of illegal goods.”
