NCRPO-RID agents jail ‘notorious’ illegal recruiter
NATIONAL Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Director Major General Edgar Alan O. Okubo on Saturday announced the arrest of a “notorious” 42-year-old female illegal recruiter in the country during a manhunt operation in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.
The official said the accused was the subject of nine pending warrants of arrest for syndicated illegal recruitment. No bail was recommended for the temporary liberty of the suspect who was arrested last Friday, he added.
According to Okubo, officers from the NCRPO Regional Intelligence Division (RID)/Anti-Carnapping Task Group tracked down the suspect with the help of an informant.
The official said that the suspect was first arrested on the strength of a non-bailable warrant for arrest for syndicated illegal recruitment issued by Judge Ariel Palce of the Cauayan City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 40 on January 15, 2019.
However, she was found to be the subject of several other warrants of arrest when her records were checked by the NCRPO-RID thru the enhanced Philippine National Police E-Warrant System.
Okubo said that they discovered that the illegal recruiter is the subject of the following warrants of arrest: one for illegal recruitment issued by Judge Rosa Samson of the Quezon City RTC Branch 1051 on January 25, 2019; another for syndicated illegal recruitment under Republic Act (RA) 8042 as amended by RA 10022 or the Migrant Workers and Overseas Filipinos Act of 1995 issued by Judge Michel Videz of the Echague, Isabela RTC Branch 24 on April 7, 2022.
A warrant for violation of Presidential Decree No. 2018 (Further Amending Articles 38 and 39 of the Labor Code by making Illegal Recruitment a Crime of Economic Sabotage and Punishable with Life Imprisonment) issued by Judge Randy Bulwayan of the Roxas, Isabela RTC Branch 23 on July 16, 2021; an alias warrant of arrest for large-scale illegal recruitment issued by Judge Luisito Cortes of the Q.C. RTC Branch 84.
A warrant of arrest for two counts of illegal recruitment and estafa issued by Judge Janet Abergos-Samar of the Q.C. RTC Branch 219 on June 14, 2019; an alias warrant of arrest for illegal recruitment and estafa issued by Judge Jose Paneda of the Q.C. RTC Branch 220 on June 29, 2018; and another alias warrant of arrest for estafa issued by Judge Madonna Echieverri of the Q.C. RTC Branch 80 on May 29, 2018.
“Team NCRPO will continue to intensify our police operations to bring more wanted persons to justice. This venture serves as proof of the PNP’s commitment to uphold the law and keep the streets safe,” said Okubo as he commended the NRPO-RID agents who arrested the elusive suspect.
