5 held for for forbidden cockfighting in N. Ecija

GABALDON, Nueva Ecija – Nueva Ecija police arrested five men involved in illegal cockfighting and seized cockfighting paraphernalia including P5,460 in cash bets.

Police Captain Aniceto L. Caraang Jr., town police head, said his men raided a tupada joint in Bgy. Bugnan here at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and apprehended five suspects in the middle of a cockfighting game.

Arrested were Dario Panginen, 45, and Jose Allan Buen, 49, both of Bgy. Bugnan, Arvin Limos, 25, of Bgy. Aduas Sur, Cabanatuan City, Miko Bernardo, 18, and an unidentified minor, both of Bgy. South Poblacion, this town.

Caraang said the raid was immediately conducted after he got a tip from a concerned citizen that a tupada operation was ongoing at the farm lot owned by Narciso Riparip, a resident of the area.

Seized during the operation were five live fighting cocks, 10 motorcycles, a tricycle with carrier and cockfighting paraphernalia and cash bets totaling P5,460.

Charges for violation of Presidential Decree 16-2 were filed against the arrested suspects.
