2 men held for illegally tapping PLDT cable wires in Ecija

TALAVERA, Nueva Ecija — Two men were nabbed after they were caught in the act while illegally installing telephone cable wires along the highway here on Sunday night.

Arrested were Crisanto Estipular, 28, technician, of Bgy. Talabutab Norte, General Natividad, Nueva Ecija and Ismael Morales, 39, construction worker, of Bgy. Marcos, this town.

Town police head Lt. Col. Heryl L. Bruno said the two suspects were accosted after roving guard Jayramil De Guzman, of the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company, chanced upon them while he was conducting routine inspection of their cable wires installed along the Maharlika Highway in Bgy. Marcos at 6 p.m. here.

Bruno said De Guzman’s companion immediately reported the incident to the Patrulya ng Bayan community precinct based in Bgy. Sampaloc, resulting in the arrest of the two suspects.

Charges for violation of Presidential Decree 401 or an Act Penalizing Unauthorized Installation of Water, Electrical or Telephone Connection, the Use of Tampered Water or Electrical Meters and Other Acts will be filed against the arrested suspects.
