PHILIPPINE Drug Enforcement Agency chair Director General Moro Virgilio M. Lazo last Wednesday led the opening of the grueling 6-months training of 117 new PDEA agents who will beef-up the agency’s strength as they continue an all-out crackdown against illegal drug trafficking and abuse in the country.

The 117 agent-trainees will have to pass the Drug Enforcement Officers Basic Course Class of 2024-21 at the PDEA Academy in Camp Castañeda in Bgy. Tartaria in Silang, Cavite before being fielded for actual duty.

Lazo underscored the agency’s commitment to nurturing a new generation of drug enforcement officers imbued with integrity, dedication, and a profound sense of duty to the Filipino people as he welcomed the 177 agent-trainees to the PDEA school.

The Drug Enforcement Officers Basic Course is a comprehensive and meticulously crafted training program designed to equip aspiring agents with the knowledge, skills, and ethical foundation necessary for the multifaceted challenges of drug enforcement.

The curriculum encompasses a broad spectrum of subjects, including cutting-edge law enforcement methodologies, investigative techniques, intelligence gathering, and ethical considerations inherent to the fight against narcotics.

Under the supervision of the PDEA Academy, which provides an optimal environment for immersive and specialized training, the 117 agent-trainees will engage in a holistic program that includes physical conditioning, tactical exercises, and simulated real-world scenarios to prepare them for the challenges they will face in the field.

Wednesday’s ceremony serves as a testament of profound efforts of PDEA officers committed to eradicating the drug menace in the Philippines, said Lazo as he thanked all officers and men of the PDEA Academy and their Human Resource Management Service, stakeholders; and supporters whose unwavering commitment has contributed to the success of the Drug Enforcement Officers Basic Course through the years.

“Together, we forge a united front against illegal drugs, safeguarding the well-being of our nation,” he said.
