Woman among 3 HVIs nabbed in Laguna buy-bust

CAMP BRIG. GEN. VICENTE LIM, Canlubang, Calamba City, Laguna — Three “high-value” individuals, including a woman, on Saturday were arrested while P3 million worth of suspected shabu was seized in a buy-bust operation conducted by joint operatives of the Police Regional Office 4A in Magano St., Bgy. Maytalang, Lumban, Laguna.

Nabbed were alias “Fred”, 47; alias “Jim” 50, and alias “Cynthia,” 20, all residents of Lumban, Laguna.

The three are listed as “high-value” individuals in the Laguna police’s drug watchlist.

Joint operatives of the Laguna Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit-Provincial Intelligence Unit, PNP Drug Enforcement Group-Special Operations Unit 4A, Regional Highway Patrol Unit 4A and the Lumban Municipal Police Station conducted the buy-bust operation, which resulted in the arrest of the suspects.

Seized were six transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing 550 grams valued at P3,740,000, and the buy-bust money.

Police Regional Office 4A (Calabarzon) Director Brig. Gen. Paul Kenneth T, Lucas lauded the significant accomplishments of the Drug Enforcement Units of the PRO 4A during the conduct of the buy-bust operation in Lumban.

He directed the anti-drug units of PRO 4A to conduct thorough investigation to trace the source of illegal drugs seized in the town.

“I am grateful to our dedicated and hardworking PRO 4A drug operatives for making another milestone in our campaign against illegal drugs. This remarkable feat deserves recognition. I already directed our anti-drug units to conduct an investigation to trace the source of this enormous quantity of drugs that proliferate not only in Lumban but also in the nearby municipalities.” Lucas said.

The suspects will be charged with violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. By Jane Eleda and Gil Aman
