RETIRED former Muslim police general Sahiron Dulah Salim dubbed as ‘Tausog warrior and rebel hunter’ filed his Certificate of Candidacy for president of the Philippines, bringing to 97 the total number of presidential candidates.

Running Independent, Salim expressed optimism that his fellow Muslims and former colleagues in the PNP and military will support his candidacy for a better Philippines.

If elected, Salim vowed to wipe out corruption and eliminate crooks in the government.

The first ever Muslim to head the Salaam Police in Camp Crame, Salim said the Philippines needs a brave and courageous leader who has the political will to rid the government of corrupt officials and a real leader who could wipe out illegal drugs that cause massive poverty among the Filipino people and undermines the government.

Salim added the incident in Afghanistan could also happen in the country.

“Look what happened to Afghanistan. The rebels there have easily took over the government due to corruption issues so the people there supported the rebels’ cause and that some government soldiers refused to fight the rebels,” pointed out Salim.

A Full-blooded Tausog, Salim earned his monicker as “Tausog warrior” and peacemaker after MNLF and NPA rebels.

Salim, former provincial police director in Bataan, has also been dubbed as “peacemaker” for settling amicably several bloody disputes among warring clans in the South and had also successfully offered peace to other secessionists.
