BORACAY policemen last Friday arrested a 37-year-old tattoo artist in the world-famous tourist destination found to be involved in illegal drug activities, a report to Police Regional Office 6 director Brig. Gen. Flynn Dongbo said yesterday.

“We have caught a tattoo artist by day but a shabu dealer at night in Boracay Island,” said Lt. Col. Don Dicksie de Dios, the chief of the Malay Municipal Police Station.

According to the official, suspect Rembert Deduyo, a resident of Sitio Lugoton in Bgy. Manocmanoc in Malay was arrested on Friday morning during a buy-bust operation in his neighborhood.

Undercover officers from the Malay Police Station, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, seized an estimated P5,000 worth of the “poor man’s cocaine” from the suspect, who also yielded the marked P1,000 bill paid to him by a poseur.

De Dios said the suspect is facing charges for sale and possession of prohibited drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The official warned others who will try to engage in illegal drug activities in Boracay to think twice as they will be subjected to a massive police anti-narcotics operation, with the help of the community.

“We are very serious in our mission to stop illegal drug trafficking and abuse in the island and are going all-out to arrest drug dealers from street-level pushers to high-value targets,” the official said.
