MICRO, small and medium enterprises (MSME) will be getting full support from vice presidential candidate and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte once elected into national office.

During the Sara All For You online caravan, Mayor Sara said she is including in her priorities the MSMEs so that they can continue doing business and providing jobs to the Filipinos.

“I am one with you in finding and establishing measures so that the provision of our law are effectively implemented and that our goals are achieved,” Mayor Sara said.

MSMEs comprise about 99 percent of the enterprises that generate more than 62 percent of the country’s employment, making it the key to the economic recovery from COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Mayor Sara, the passage of the Magna Carta for MSMEs is not enough but must ensure that the landmark legislation is implemented properly and effectively.

“We must ensure that the laws are fully and properly implemented in a timely manner,” she said.

The chairperson of LAkas-CMD and Hugpong ng Pagbabago said that MSMEs are the commonly underprivileged sector because the government does not have many financing organizations that can help small business owners in their start-up capital.

“In my experience, MSMEs din po ang pinaka-naiiwanan kapag merong problema. Unang-una, wala talaga silang access sa capitalization at financing dahil hindi man nila magawa yung mga requirements ng bangko at ng financing organizations,” she said.
