Co1AKO Bicol Party-list Rep. Zaldy Co highlighted on Friday the government’s commitment to education as a cornerstone for societal development and equality during a significant event celebrating the distribution of funds under the Student Monetary Assistance for Recovery and Transition (SMART) scholarship program.

“As we all know, education is the great equalizer that removes the gap among social classes and levels the playing field for all of us,” Co said, emphasizing the transformative power of education.

Co reiterated the mission of the administration, led by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, to ensure that every Filipino youth receives equal opportunities to pursue their dreams.

“Prayoridad po ng ating gobyerno na bigyan ng suporta at tulong sa edukasyon lalo na ang mga nangangailangan nating kabataan,” Co said.

The chairman of the House committee on appropriation further stressed the multi-faceted approach the government is taking in supporting students, not only through scholarships but also through regular financial assistance in partnership with agencies like the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

The Bicolano lawmaker said he firmly believes in the initiatives of President Marcos and Speaker Romualdez, thereby fully supporting students’ educational journeys through comprehensive programs and partnerships.

“Kaya todo din ang aming suporta sa mga estudyante. Bukod sa SMART scholarship, regular din ang pamimigay ng aming financial assistance katuwang ang DSWD. Mayroon din tayong mga scholarship mula sa CHED at TESDA,” Co added.

Co then encouraged the students to make the most out of the opportunities coming their way.

“With the opportunities that have been presented to you, strive to excel in your studies. Remember, you have the backing of the President, the Speaker, Ako Bicol Party List, DSWD, DOLE, CHED, TESDA, and the entire Congress,” he said.

“Lagi n’yong tatandaan – hindi kayo nag-iisa. Kasama n’yo kami sa pagbuo ng inyong mga pangarap,” Co said.
