A MOTORCYCLE rider was arrested for possessing an improvised shotgun (sumpak) and defying policemen in Quezon City on Thursday.

PLTCol. Romil Avenido, station commander of La Loma Police Station (PS 1), identified the suspect as Jon Jon Rualo, 32, a resident of Brgy. Tatalon, Quezon City.

The suspect was arrested around 5:00 p.m. in an anti-criminality patrol at Sergeant Rivera Avenue corner Sto. Domingo St., Brgy. Manresa, Quezon City.

Rualo was on board his motorcycle without a helmet and no side mirror. He was flagged down and asked to present any pertinent documents for his motorcycle but he failed to do so.

The police officers noticed something bulky on the suspect’s black sling bag, so they ordered him to open it.

A sumpak loaded with one 12-gauge shotgun ammunition was discovered. However, during the arrest, the suspect resisted and attempted to escape but he failed.

The suspect will be charged for violation of R.A. 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and Art. 151 or the Disobedience of a Person in Authority or his Agent of the Revised Penal Code before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
