QUEZON City Police District (QCPD) Director, PBGen. Antonio C. Yarra lauded the BPSOs of Barangay Lourdes for arresting a housemaid for qualified theft on November 20, 2021 in Quezon City.

PLt. Col. Tyrone Valenzona, La Loma Police Station (PS 1) commander, identified the suspect as Mary Jane Estefani, 23, resident of Carolina, Naga City, and was hired by victim Mary Lou Chua on September 8, 2021 through online referral of the victim’s ex-housemaid.

A report showed that at about 3:30 p.m. of November 19, 2021, witness Marc Jonathan Chua, son of the victim, noticed a hole on the door of his mother’s room which prompted him to check.

The witness saw Estefani allegedly disarraying the room while bundles of cash and boxes of jewelry were on top of the bed.

When Marc Jonathan confronted the suspect, the latter stated that someone called and said Mary Lou had encountered an accident and needed money for immediate medication. She added that the caller demanded that the money be brought to a nearby 7-Eleven Store.

Marc Jonathan phoned his mother Mary Lou who denied the suspect’s claims.

They then sought assistance Barangay Lourdes officials who accompanied them to the store for the possible arrest of the caller.

However, the suspect said the caller demanded that the money be sent thru G-Cash remittance.

Subsequently, victim Mary Lou, Marc Jonathan andEstefani went to Barangay Lourdes to blotter the incident.

However, the suspect’s belongings were secretly inspected by victim Mary Lou and Marc Jonathan and that a complaint had already been filed against her.

The suspect was arrestes at about 9 a.m. of November 20, 2021.

Recovered from the suspect were cash P84,510, HK$10 Hongkong, a 10 Singapore dollar, jewelry, perfume, a Cherry Mobile cellular phone, a charger, a speaker, and a pink backpack and a Jansport pouch of Estefani containing P700.

The suspect will be charged for qualified theft before the Quezon City’s Prosecutor’s Office.
