POLICE Regional Office 12 director Brig. Gen. John Michael Dubria yesterday said their campaign against terror gangs in Central Mindanao would continue to be aggressive this year vis-à-vis their war on drugs and criminality.

The PRO12 director reported to Philippine National Police chief Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar that at present, they are continuing their massive intelligence operations to identify and neutralize ISIS-inspired terror rings in the region, specifically those wanted by the law.

On Sunday last week, PRO2 agents raided a suspected safehouse of a Daesh/ISIS-inspired terror group in Sitio Lagwang, Purok 5, Bgy. Rubber in Polomolok, South Cotabato and shot dead two armed suspects in an ensuing gunfight.

According to Brig Gen. Dubria, the 3:40 a.m. raid ended up in a gunbattle when the target of the search warrant identified as Emilton Ampatuan, 45; and his companion later identified as Abdullah Sampulna Ampatuan fired shots at the raiding team.

Members of the raiding team from the PRO1s Regional Intelligence Division and Regional Mobile Force Battalion, the South Cotabato Police Provincial Office, the Polomolok Municipal Police Station and the Army’s 10th Special Force Company returned fire hitting the two on their bodies.

Both died while being taken to the Polomolok Municipal Hospital by a local rescue team.

Recovered during the raid were one cal. .45 submachine gun without serial numbers, a cal. .357 revolver with two spent casings, two homemade rifles, a rifle grenade and an ISIS flag.

Dubria said tha the raid was conducted on the strength of a search warrant for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013 issued by Judge Adelbert Santillan.
