4 ASG rebs killed in Sulu shootout
FOUR notorious member of Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) including the brother of infamous bomb maker Mundi Sawadjaan were killed in a shootout early Sunday morning in Jolo,Sulu.
Joint Task Force Sulu spokesperson1Lt Jerrica Angela Manongdo identified the fatalities as Al-Al Sawadjaan, Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) sub-leader Injam Yadah, alias Raup, and another unidentified ASG member .
Manondo said the incident occurred at around 2 a.m. in Barangay Alat, Jolo.
Combined elements of the Joint Task Force – Sulu and the PNP went to the area to serve a warrant of arrest against ASG sub-leader Yadah but were fired upon by the terrorists that prompted them to return fire that resulted to the killing of the bandits.
JTF Sulu and 11th Infantry Division Commander MGen William N Gonzales said troops recovered an M653 carbine rifle, .45 caliber pistol, improvised explosive device components and 15 mobile phones from the crime scene.
According to 35th Infantry Battalion Commander Ltc Wilfredo Borgonia, Yadah was previously involved in the kidnapping of several Filipino and foreign nationals.
“Yadah played a key role in the kidnapping of five Indonesian nationals in Malaysian waters on January 2020, these are the kidnap victims rescued in Tawi-tawi earlier this year. He was also involved in Dr. Moreno kidnapping in Jolo, Filipino-American Rex Triplett kidnapping in Zamboanga del Norte that both happened last year and the Tulawie kidnappings wayback 2018,” Ltc Borgonia said.
Meanwhile, Al-Al Sawadjaan is known to have some knowledge in bomb making and has allegedly pledged to be a suicide bomber.
