AS the country observes the Holy Week, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) is all set to respond to medical emergencies.

The PRC recently deployed over 2,000 volunteers to operate more than 200 first aid stations, ambulance units, and roving units placed across numerous strategic areas nationwide, including seaports, airports, major highways, bus terminals, and places of worship.

PRC Chairman and CEO Richard “Dick” Gordon said that for many Filipinos, this observance is also an opportunity to visit families in the province, thus intensified preparations for medical emergencies must be made.

“Every year, we anticipate religious mass gatherings and that is why we are prepared even a month before the actual observance of Holy Week. That is part of our mantra: Always First, Always Ready, and Always There. Our welfare desks are put up in strategic areas to accommodate inquiries and concerns. Along with other assets and foot patrol teams, these will all be operational for the entire holy week,” said Chairman Gordon.
