2 Ilocos cops get recognition for returning lost wallet

THE Office of the Ombudsman recognized two members of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-1 in Ilocos-Pangasinan region for returning a wallet lost by a resident.

Police Chief Master Sergeants Ronald C. Caceres and Paolo B. Rimando, both assigned at the PRO1 Regional Headquarters Support Unit, were among the 26 national awardees who received the Honest, Integrity and Public Accountability (HIP) Awards from the Ombudsman this year.

PRO1 director Brigadier General Lou F. Evangelista expressed admiration for the two honest cops.

“I am proud to have these two police officers in our ranks. Their commitment to honesty and public service serves as an inspiration to all of us, and I hope that their actions will encourage others to follow in their footsteps,” the official said.

The two received their award from Ombudsman Director IV Ryan P. Medrano during simple ceremonies at the PRO1 headquarters in San Fernando City in La Union.

Both cops were cited for their ‘exemplary display of honesty’ for returning a wallet they found to its rightful owner’ without having a second thought.

The Ombudsman HIP Award is bi-annual initiative that aims to recognize ordinary citizens for their exemplary acts of honesty, integrity and public accountability.
