PNP-HPG collars car theft suspect in MM

A 29-YEAR-OLD security guard tagged as the 5th most wanted car theft personality in Metro Manila by the Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) was arrested by HPG National Capital Region Unit agents in Bulacan on Monday, PNP-HPG Director Brigadier General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil said yesterday.

The suspect with the alias “Penguin”, a resident of Tierra Monte Covina in Bgy. Silangan, San Mateo, Rizal was tracked down by RHPU-NCR operatives under Lt. Col. Joel L. Mendoza in front of the Jed’s Island Resort along MacArthur Highway in Calumpit, Bulacan 5:40 p.m. Monday, the official said.

Brig. Gen. Marbil said that the suspect was arrested on a warrant for violation of Republic Act 10883 or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016 issued by Judge Maribeth Manahan of the San Mateo, Rizal Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 175 last March 17.

A P300,000 bail was recommended for the temporary liberty of the accused.

The PNP-HPG director commended the RHPU-NCR team led by Lt. Col. Mendoza and Maj. Anselmo A. Chulipa for accounting for the wanted carnapping suspect following a tip from an informant.
