PHILIPPINE National Police chief General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar ordered all police commanders in Bicol, Eastern Visayas and other areas expected to be affected by typhoon ‘Jolina’ to be on alert and assist local government units in responding to calls for public assistance.

Gen. Eleazar also instructed all concerned police regional offices to put on standby PNP assets and personnel for the conduct of evacuation, search and rescue and other preparations and response in connection with the weather disturbance

He likewise reminded policemen to always coordinate with LGUs regarding measures that will ensure the safety of residents amid the typhoon.

State weather bureau PAGASA said Jolina already made landfall in the vicinity of Hernani, Eastern Samar on Monday evening.

Signal No. 3 was hoisted over southern portions of Eastern Samar and Samar provinces.

Eleazar said.
