PDEG agents collar 12 drug suspects, seize P2.7M shabu

A STRING of anti-narcotics operations conducted by agents of the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) this week resulted in the arrest of 10 targets and the seizure of nearly P2.7 million worth of shabu, PDEG director Brigadier General Dionsio B. Bartolome Jr. said Sunday.

In a report to PNP chief General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, the official said two of the suspects, Paolo Aranza, 29; and Mary Nhel Castillo, 28, were arrested in Sitio Poblacion in Brgy. Baybay, Roxas City in Capiz at around 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

A total of 17 sachets containing 85 grams of shabu valued at P578,000 were recovered from the duo.

Two others, Nording Panarangin and Jabar Alimbarakat, were arrested in Purok 1, Brgy. East Kilikili in Wao, Lanao del Sur at 2:00 p.m. Friday.

Confiscated from the two were 60 grams of shabu valued at P408,000, buy-bust money and motorcycle.

In Tacloban City, PDEG officers arrested Rubin Russel, 33, in Brgy. 100 San Roque at 11:50 p.m. Friday.

At around 7:40 p.m. of the same day, PDEG 2 operatives raided a house in Batang St. in Brgy. Caggay, Tuguegarao City and arrested Rogelio Isaguirre, 36.

His arrest led to the confiscation of 500 grams of dried marijuana leaves and a gram of shabu valued at P66,800.

Another anti-drug raid in Brgy. Punong Grande in Banga, South Cotabato around 6:00 a.m. Thursday led to the arrest of Eris Esmilla, 45, and the recovery of 53 grams of shabu worth P357,000 and several drug paraphernalia.

Last Tuesday evening, PDEG SOU 4-A agents arrested Daryll Garcia, 27; and Joemar Navarro, 22, after they conspired to sell shabu to an undercover officer in Brgy. Cuta, Batangas City.

The operation led to the recovery of an estimated 25 grams of shabu worth P170,000.

Four other targets–alias Datu, Saudi Madie, alias Kadafi and alias Saudi–are still being hunted after escaping arrest during a buy-bust in Brgy. Saniag, Ampatuan, Maguindanao del Sur around 11:30 a.m. Friday.

The sting led to the recovery of 100 grams of shabu worth P680,000.
