A House leader advised Senator Manny Pacquiao to formalize his allegations of corruption in the present administration by filing a resolution so Congress can start an inquiry.

Reacting to Pacquiao’s disclosure, House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability chair DIWA Party-list Representative Michael Aglipay said Congress is willing to investigate the corruption issues involving government departments and agencies.

In a virtual pressconference, Pacquiao revealed anomalies in the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) particularly the missing P10.4 billion financial aid or ayuda for the affected Filipinos during the pandemic.

He said there are questionable spending and illegal procurement in the agencies like Department of Health (DoH); Department of Energy (DoE), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and Department of Tourism.

Aglipay urged the senator to file a resolution for the Senate to probe on these alleged corruption activities.

“Senator Pacquiao’s allegations against DSWD over the missing P10.4 billion meant for ayuda, as well as corruption in the DOH, DOE, and DENR are a very serious matters and should be coursed through formal channels by way of a resolution, which he should file before their own Senate Blue Ribbon Committee under Senator Richard Gordon,” Aglipay said.

“We at the House have utmost respect towards Sen. Pacquiao and our other colleagues at the Senate. We honor interparliamentary courtesy, but at the same time believe that the good Senator should file a resolution to investigate the alleged corruption,” he added.

On the part of the House, the panel will look into it once there is a resolution filed.

“ As the chairman of the Committee on Good Governance and Public Accountability, it is my duty to initiate or support any investigation that seeks to expose any corrupt practices that not only tarnishes the image of the government, but also prevents our countrymen from receiving even the most basic of services,” Aglipay added.
