Philip Morris International (PMI) and PMFTC Inc. leaders, accompanied by top government dignitaries, formally opened the new P8.8 billion or US$150 million Smoke-Free Products Facility in Tanauan City, Batangas. This will house manufacturing lines to produce the specially designed heated tobacco sticks BLENDS for BONDS by IQOS. PMI CEO Jacek Olczak said the facility opening “signifies another significant milestone in our commitment to a smoke-free Philippines” and is “a testament to our confidence in the Philippine economy and the local tobacco farming industry. Leading the inauguration were (L-R) PMI Region President Frederic De Wilde, PMFTC Manufacturing Director Elvio Rocco, PMI Senior Vice President Operations Scott Coutts, PMI Chief Executive Officer Jacek Olczak, First Lady of the Republic of the Philippines Louise Araneta-Marcos, PMFTC President Denis Gorkun, PMFTC Board of Director Michael Tan, LT Group President Lucio Tan III and Department of Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr.
