CAMP OLIVAS, San Fernando, Pampanga — Five former members of the communist terror (CTG) and communist front organizations (CFO) turned themselves in to Central Luzon authorities along with their firearms and ammunition, Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr. said yesterday.

In Nueva Ecija, a former member of the Liga ng Manggagawang Bukid on Monday yielded to the police and turned in a cal. .38 revolver and bullets while an ex-Militiang Bayan member, an alias “Win,” also surrendered a loaded cal. .38 revolver to the 302nd Mobile Company Regional Mobile Force Battalion 3 in Bgy. Sto. Tomas Lubao, Pampanga.

“Win,” recruited by the CTG in 1986, had been tasked with transporting supplies and providing military intelligence.

He received an initial cash assistance to aid his reintegration into the community.

Last Sunday, “Michael,” a former Militia ng Bayan fighter from Zambales, also surrendered, along with a cal. .22 gun while two women in Bataan renounced their ties with ANAKPAWIS, a communist front organization of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front.

The two women turned in a cal. .38 pistol to the local police.

“We embrace our surrendering individuals not as foes but as kin. They were ensnared by misleading ideologies that led them down the path of armed conflict. We extend an invitation to active CTG/CFO members to rejoin lawful society and embrace a brighter future,” Hidalgo said.
