THE Marcos administration will not stop in looking for ways to ease the lives of Filipinos.

According to House Speaker Martin Romualdez, the distribution of aid, scholarships and livelihoods to the poor are just some of what the government is already doing.

The distribution of rice and cash in different provinces, through the ‘Cash and Rice Distribution’ (CARD) of Congress is a program for the poor.

PhilHealth’s free check-ups under the agency’s ‘Konsulta’ package are another aid for the health of PhilHealth members.

The Congress leader further explained that these are just a short-term response to the immediate needs of Filipinos. “But of course, ang mga ito ay pansamantalang solusyon lamang habang naghahanap tayo dito sa Congress ng pangmatagalang kasagutan sa problema natin sa mahal na mga bilihin at mataas na presyo ng pagpapagamot,” said Romualdez.

He said this is why some laws such as the Rice Tariffication Law are being reviewed to once again allow the National Food Authority (NFA) to sell cheap rice in the markets for the Filipinos.
