LAKAS-CMD, one of the largest political parties in the country today, is set to forge an alliance with President Bongbong Marcos Jr.’s Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) this coming Wednesday for the 2025 midterm elections.

This is according to Deputy Speaker and Quezon Province Rep. David “Jayjay” Suarez, a member of the so-called Young Guns and also the spokesperson of LAKAS, who added that the coalition is open to all parties as long as a party is willing to help in accomplishing the goals of the Marcos administration.

“As the spokesperson of LAKAS-CMD, we will be forging our alliance with Partido Federal on Wednesday,” said Suarez during the daily press briefing at the House of Representatives Monday.

“And we look forward to establishing and building on this alliance because, number one, we share common values, we share a lot of commonalities when it comes to ideology, and, of course, we carry the Presidents banner, calling for unity, development and progress,” he added.

He stressed that other political parties are welcome to join the coalition as long as they also support the advocacies and programs of President Marcos and his administration.

“You know forming an alliance is an easy task but carrying the burden and the responsibility of it has to be followed as well. So hindi ka puwede na alliance out of comfort. Dapat alliance ka because of progress at kung progress at development ang pag-uusapan natin dapat sumasang-ayon ka,” Suarez said.

“Dapat nanduon ka sa posisyon ng Pangulo dahil iyon ang ka-alyansa mo. Saan ka naman nakakita ng kaalyansa mo na hindi kayo nagkakasundo at hindi kayo nagkaka-ugnay sa mga polisiya?” he asked.

Suarez said that there should also be a synergy of objectives among members of the parties in the coalition.

“I think this should be the basis of unity for all the other political parties that want to align with the PFP. It is also vital for us na makita din po natin itong alliances not only on the national level, but also on the provincial and local levels as well,” he said.

“As we have seen when it comes to the implementations of programs and projects, we need to see alignment also when it comes to support and when it comes to proper implementation and execution. We do look forward to this alliance and I do hope that the other political parties will follow soon,” he added.

Lanao del Sur Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong, another member of LAKAS, said unity should be the basis of the coalition since it is President Marcos Jr.’s rallying cry in his administration.

“In unity, there is strength, hindi ba? Unity in diversity doesn’t necessarily mean that since you have your own platform, your own advocacies, it doesn’t mean that we can’t compromise, and you can join forces together to work for the betterment of the country,” Adiong said.

“Anybody is welcome, pero iyong mga partido po dapat naka-align po sa priority ng ating administration. Mahirap naman po din na kung halimbawa, may sinusulong ang ating Presidente tapos taliwas ang inyong posisyon doon,” he continued.

Rep. Joel Chua, the lone member of Aksyon Demokratiko in the House of Representatives, said he is very grateful to President Marcos if his party will be considered in the alliance contemplated for the midterm elections next year.

“Naniniwala naman po ako na dapat lahat naman po tayo nagtutulungan. Ang banner na binabandera po ng ating pangulo ay unity, so kung lahat po ng naniniwala sa agenda, sa programa, at sa administrasyon ng Pangulo, tingin ko dapat nagkakaisa po talaga. Kaya malaking bagay po ito para sa amin,” Chua said.
