Maragondon 3 solar power plant breaks ground

MARAGONDON, Cavite – Maragondon 3 Solar Power Project, a 140MW solar PV (photovoltaic) power project, broke ground on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 situated in more than 70 hectares of property in Barangay Pantihan 2 and 3 here.

Cavite Governor Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla Jr. and Batangas Governor Hermilando “Dodo” Mandanas, together with Katrina Razon, chairwoman of Solar Tanauan Corporation, led the program and announced the target completion date of the solar power project, which is on December 2023.

Maragondon Mayor Lawrence “Umbe” Arca said that the town is “happy” to host an energy development project besides expanding local tourism.

“Just like the call and mandate of our President Bongbong Marcos regarding ‘renewable energy’ and ‘clean energy transition,’ I believe that this is the right time for all government agencies and even the private sector to help each other to promote various projects related to energy and other programs to prepare other resources that are currently – gradually slowly running out,” Arca said.

“Along with our local programs for the development of the citizens and additional job opportunities for the people of Maragondon, we are with you and with the help of God for the upliftment and advancement of the Philippines,” he added.

Zhao Zhihao and Bal Yongsheng of Power China Philippines, Vice Mayor Junio Dualan of Naic, Vice Mayor Bernie Ilagan of Maragondon, Bgys. Pantihan 2 and Pantihan 3 officials also attended the groundbreaking rites.

Maragondon 3 Solar Power Project is a ground-mounted solar project that was developed and owned by Solar Philippines Tanauan with a cost of US$196.7M.
