Man caught with fake cigarettes in Ecija town
TALAVERA, Nueva Ecija — Police on Monday night arrested a man while in possession of alleged fake cigarettes in this town.
Talavera police head Lt. Col. Ranny Casilla identified the arrested suspect as Bonifacio Benedicto, 59, of Purok 5, Bgy. Umangan, Aliaga, Nueva Ecija.
Benedicto was caught during “Oplan Sita” operations in Bgy. Gulod at 9 p.m. on Monday.
Casilla said his men arrested the suspect while in possession of three boxes of fake “Titanium Blue” cigarettes worth P45,000.
Benedicto was arrested after failing to present the required pertinent documents.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 8293 were filed against the arrested suspect before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office.
