FIVE taxi drivers who refused returning passengers from the provinces to be conveyed to their homes after spending the holidays were apprehended by operatives of the Land Transportation Office-National Capital Region West (LTO-NCR-West) as part of the implementation of “Oplan Isnabero.”

LTO-NCR-West Director Roque I. Verzosa said the five were nabbed during an operation at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) and in Pasay City.

Other operations were also done in different areas in Metro Manila under the jurisdiction of LTO-NCR-West.

Verzosa said the operation is according to Joint Administrative Order No. 2014-01, with the penalty for “Refusal to render service to the public or convey passenger to destination” ranging from Php 5,000 up to Php 15,000 and cancellation of the Certificate of Public Conveyance (CPC).

Verzosa, meanwhile, reminded taxi drivers to perform their responsibilities well following the increasing number of people needing public transportation.

“Patuloy rin na magsasagawa ng operasyon ang ahensya upang matiyak ang kaayusan at kaligtasan sa daan,” he said.

Implemented from January 3 to 5, 2023, enforcers were deployed to bus terminals to ensure that taxi drivers would not refuse returning passengers from the provinces to be conveyed to their homes.

Verzosa said the conduct of said activity is about the Memorandum dated December 12, 2022, regarding the implementation signed by LTO chief, Assistant Secretary Jose Antonio “Jay Art” Tugade.
