LTO to hasten online registration, license application to curb fixers
LAND Transportation Office (LTO) chief Asst. Secretary Vigor Mendoza II yesterday ordered his regional directors to hasten the implementation of the online registration and license application of vehicles.
“Ito’y ipapa-double time natin within the regions para mas mapalawak na ang mga motorist na hindi kailangang i-renew ang registration ng kanilang sasakyan ng face-to-face because our goal is to have all these transactions be made online,” he said in an interview.
Under the guidance of Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista, this process according to Mendoza, is also seen to solve the decades-long problem of fixers since face-to-face transactions are not welcomed anymore.
“Ang aming approach ho na yan, ay magkaroon ng online system of registration both for vehicle (registration) and license application,” he added.
The LTO chief said that through this process, license holders would also no longer be required to go to the offices since their licenses would be sent via a courier.
