Lawyer running for councilor in Batangas shot dead
A LAWYER who is running for councilor in Sto. Tomas, Batangas on Thursday was shot dead in his office in the city.
Batangas police director Col. Glicerio Cansilao identified the victim as attorney Reginald Michael Manito, 42.
Manito was in his office in Gov. Malvar Ave., Bgy. Poblacion 1, Sto. Tomas City when two armed men entered his workplace at 11:20 a.m. on Thursday.
The suspects shot the victim twice then fled.
Aira Vargas, the victim’s secretary who was also inside the office, was left unscathed.
Manito was rushed to St. Cabrini Medical Center, where he was declared dead on arrival by attending physician, Dr. Gil Christoper Auila.
Police are pursuing the suspects and investigating the motive for the killing. By Jane Eleda and Jojo Magsombol
