Las Piñas marks cityhood, founding anniversaries with activities

THE Las Piñas city government will simultaneously celebrate its 26th cityhood and 116th founding anniversary, where various activities were prepared for the city residents.

According to Mayor Imelda Aguilar, the activities prepared for the cityhood and founding anniversary commenced on Monday, March 27, from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Mayor Aguilar said health and wellness programs which were held at Verdant covered court include free laboratory tests on FBS, cholesterol and blood typing, HIV screening, nutrition education, dental services, immunization for children aged 0-59 months old, pneumonia vaccines for senior citizens, family planning and chest X-ray.

Aside from health and wellness, another prepared program is the cityhood “mega job fair” at Robinsons Place, intended for city residents seeking jobs fitted to them.

The mayor said the city government likewise conducted services in accepting applications and renewal of “green card” holders.

Aguilar said free vaccines and deworming for cats and dogs, including the distribution of free seedlings and fertilizers, will be conducted on March 28 at the Verdant covered court from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon only.

The couples who wanted to receive the matrimony of marriage and saying “I Do’s” to each other may join the “Kasalang Bayan” (mass wedding) prepared by the city government to be held on March 31.

The mayor added that for the delight of every Las Piñeros, the city government will also be offering a cultural show organized by the Las Piñas Tourism and Cultural Office (TCO).

Aguilar said the TCO team arranged the activities showcasing different festivals in the city’s dual celebration, including the scheduled presentation of the famous Banda Jose, who will be performing their exhibition and drill.

Another activity included in the celebration of cityhood and the founding anniversary of Las Piñas will be the display of the known “Sarao jeepney” in front of the city hall.
