Ako Bicol Cup promotes unity, sportsmanship
AKO Bicol Party-list Representative Elizaldy Co, along with local chief executives, sports personalities led by Marc Pingris, and volunteers, launched the second season of the Ako Bicol Cup in Camarines Sur, promoting unity and camaraderie among young athletes in the region.
The Ako Bicol Cup is not just a basketball tournament but a platform for athletes to showcase their skills while embodying the values of sportsmanship, camaraderie, and teamwork.
The tournament has a positive impact on the community by inspiring young athletes to give their best performance and respect their opponents, regardless of the game’s outcome.
Aside from the cash prize, each player was given a free basketball jersey and basketball shoes to help them perform their best on the court.
The support from Ako Bicol Party-list and the volunteers behind the tournament did not stop at the prize but extended to helping young athletes reach their full potential.
“We believe that sports can be a catalyst for positive change, and the Ako Bicol Cup is just one of the many initiatives that we are pushing to support our community’s development,” said Co.
The opening ceremony was attended by Ako Bicol Party-list representatives Cong. Elizaldy Co, Cong. Jil Bongalon, and Ako Bicol Executive Director Atty. Alfredo Garbin, Jr., along with local officials, to celebrate the start of the tournament, which will run for several weeks.
The Ako Bicol Cup is more than just a “basketball tournament.” It provides an opportunity for the community to come together and support the young athletes representing their towns and schools. According to the organizers, the tournament promotes inclusivity, equality, and fairness in sports, encouraging the youth to work together towards a common goal.
Co assures continued support for sports and other initiatives that uplift the lives of Bicolanos.
“We are committed to promoting a culture of excellence, fairness, and inclusivity in our region, and we invite everyone to join us in this journey towards progress,” he said.
“Let us show our support for the young athletes as they compete in the Ako Bicol Cup and embody the values of sportsmanship and teamwork, making a positive impact on our community. Mabuhay ang mga atletang Bicolano!” he added.
