A WEEK-LONG anti-criminality operation in Laguna province led to the arrest of 316 lawbreakers and the confiscation of more than P500,000 worth of illegal drugs, Police Regional Office 4-A (PRO4A) Director Brigadier General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez reported to Camp Crame on Monday.

The Calabarzon (Cavite/Laguna/Batangas/Rizal/Quezon) police director said that the conduct of the “Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations” (SACLEO), otherwise known as the “One-Time, Big-Time” anti-criminality operations in the province was spearheaded by the Laguna Police Provincial Office (PPO) headed by Col. Randy Glenn G. Silvio.

Nartatez lauded the Laguna police for their latest accomplishments in their anti-criminality campaign as he ordered the other Calabarzon police offices to intensify their campaign further against wanted persons, illegal guns and drugs, and other illicit activities.

The August 25-31 operations resulted in the arrest of 121 “most wanted persons” (MWPs), other wanted suspects in the province, and three others found possessing illegal firearms and ammunition.

Silvio said that among the lawbreakers they arrested were three regional level MWPs, three provincial level MWPs, 31 city/municipal MWPs, and 84 others.

The arrested suspects are the subject of warrants of arrest for various criminal offenses ranging from rape, rape by sexual assault, child rape, sale and possession of illegal drugs, carnapping, qualified theft, human trafficking, frustrated murder, attempted murder, child abuse, illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, robbery with violence, robbery, and acts of lasciviousness.

Silvio said that 83 other known drug personalities in the province were arrested during the week-long anti-crime drive, which also led to the seizure of nearly 66 grams of shabu valued at P498,000 and an estimated P11,700 worth of dried marijuana leaves.

The official added that 109 other individuals were arrested by his men in a string of anti-illegal gambling operations, which netted P48,739 in cash bets.

“Hindi tayo titigil sa ating kampanya kontra droga at kriminalidad. Sa katunayan ay ginawa nating mas accessible ang ating mga linya ng police units sa Laguna para mas mapalakas pa natin ang ugnayan natin sa mga local government units (LGUs), non-government organizations (NGOs), at maging sa bawat indibidwal sa probinsiya para sa kampanyang ito,” Silvio said.
